"It's been a very fun year, and I have no regret picking Film Studies for my semester elective . I recommend taking Film Studies with Mrs. Raven, especially if you're fascinated by visuals and learn most effectively that way, because the film world is satisfying to see and feel. Mrs. Raven is a brilliant teacher who unites the atmosphere, making learning a blast! After taking the class, I am happy to say that I had a lot of fun. Thanks!" ~ JB 2018
"This class is 10 out of 10. We watched a variety of movies. We got to film parts of certain movies and even act in them. There is no homework, but we still managed to learn a lot." ~ Anonymous 2018
"This class was surprisingly entertaining and interesting. We watched different movies to model the various components of film production, such as lighting and sound design. There is minimal work, and I made new friends in this class. Also there were several group projects including acting or directing or cameraperson. The final was a partner/group Film Analysis Presentation on one chosen aspect of film production using clips from the last film we watched (we chose Film Lighting). I would definitely suggest that you take this class if you are interested in film design or like watching movies." ~ SV 2018
"This class was very interesting and I learned how complex making film truly is. We watched many films that demonstrated different aspects of the film-making industry. Raven made the class interesting, leaving us all to appreciate movies a little bit more!" ~ EJ 2018
"The best part of this class is that you learn a lot of how movies are made and the type of production that goes into them. I enjoyed filming camera shots with my friends and editing the clips together to form a scene. My favorite thing that I learned about movies was Cinematography. Learning this made me observe cool camera shots throughout the movies we watched. Raven, thank you for making this class enjoyable." ~QB 2018
"This class I loved a lot because I was always fascinated with the way people direct movies. For example, how props (small objects that actors handle) can symbolize meanings & themes that flow with the movie. I also appreciated the different cultures we were exposed to in several films, and how Mrs. Raven would "prepare" us to understand that culture before the movie was shown. Film Studies was a fun experience. Also I liked how we didn't have any homework, but she grades you on Film Etiquette for each movie, so you really have to pay attention." ~ EF 2018
Film Studies class was super fun, and I really liked how you included different cultural films as well. The ‘Surprise’ film you chose as the FINAL was a great choice for last movie of the semester. Thanks for everything!! --G.A.
"I really loved this class; it was super cool learning about all the camera movements and how everything ‘behind the scenes’ that went into it making movies. Thank you for an amazing half year. You were a great teacher by the way."
"I really enjoyed the film studies class because we were able to watch top-rated movies that I probably wouldn’t have seen if it wasn’t for this class." ~ Anonymous
"Hey Ms. Raven, This class has been my favorite by far this year. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this class. My favorite of this class was when we had the opportunity to use your cameras to take pictures at different angles. It was really interesting. I am definitely going to miss this class next year. I appreciate everything!!!"–A.V.D.
"I loved this class and all of the different movies we watched that we never would outside of class. I enjoyed the partner activities, and I’m really glad I got to have you as a teacher." ~ Anonymous
